Goth? I think not!

Christian Audigier, a hot upcoming designer, can definitely be considered unique.  The whole tattoo t-shirt trend came about a couple years ago and has finally exploded.  He has found a way to make this hard-core style trendy.
The major misconception about brands like Ed Hardy and Affliction/Sinful is that only gothic people wear it.  That is totally FALSE!  These brands have become very popular among UFC fighters.  Affliction has even designed shirts for specific fighters and sponsors them.  In my opinion, these shirts are fabulous!  Designers like Christian Audigier can make a simple t-shirt look rich and classy.  He has made dresses and tunics that are totally cute with tights and Uggs for the winter.  Add a fur coat and you are set for a night at the clubs.  I think guys got the better end of the deal though.  Amazing hoodies and sports coats were designed with pin stripes, chrome, and crystals to make them look classically flashy.  Great for club attire in Vegas.
OK, there is one thing that bothers me.  I happen to live in a small town, therefore there are not many places to shop.  Because of the lack of clothing, guys and girls (mostly guys) will all buy the same damn shirts.  So when we go out to the bars, every guy that wears this kind of stuff will have the same shirt on as the guy standing across the bar from him...EMBARRASSING!  Have you ever heard of ordering online??  Try it sometime.
Now that I've gotten off track I would like to go back to the style many people consider dark and gothic.  If you accessorize correctly and don't wear too much black eyeliner and go to the tanning bed once in a while, you will pull off this sexy, seductive look with ease.  And did I mention you will look fabulous?  If you add some Jess Simpson boots or YSL pumps, you will turn heads for sure!

Fugly Bridesmaid Dresses!

Why are bridesmaid dresses always ugly??  I mean is it a rule that it has to look like an 80's prom dress?  Chiffon is a totally hideous fabric anyway.  I know wedding fashion is a weird thing to blog about but I can't help but think about it because all of my friends are tying the knot soon and maybe even myself.  I've been to my fair share of weddings and believe me, I have yet to find an amazing bridesmaid dress!  AND, what is with the brides making these girls wear the same damn dress?!?  Drives me crazy...  Everyone is unique and should have their own style.  This is how fashion even came about...people having their own original look.
I hate to bring her up but Kenley from the last season of Project Runway designed a brilliant bridesmaid dress!  It was short and sassy with a bubble bottom!  SO HOT!  If I were a bridesmaid I would be more than thrilled to wear that!  With a little bit of research, I found a designer with Kenley's flair.  Lazaro.  Brilliant use of fabrics, textures, and colors.  He even uses pockets!  I love it!  His wedding dress designs are amazing as well.  I just don't understand why more wedding/bridesmaid dress designers can't use upcoming trends in their new designs.  If I knew anything about textiles and sewing I would be all over the wedding dress business.  There could be lots of money to follow trendy designs.
I'm from California but now live in Alabama.  There is a vast difference in style from one state to the other.  I understand that people in the South may not follow the trends of L.A. or New York simply because they are not surrounded by it.  BUT, why must the girls down here be so traditional??  I'm sorry but that's just boring.  Have some fun with your fashion, even if it is your wedding.  You can still be classy and fabulous at the same time without being trashy.  Coco Chanel knows what she's talking about...
I don't mean to bash the traditional, old school way of a wedding.  However, times are changing.  Fashion is probably changing faster than we can keep up with.  It's time for wedding dress designers to throw the glitter and chiffon away!  It's time for bubblishous, flower happy, loose fitting, accessory friendly, fabulous bridesmaid dresses!  Don't forget your Christian Louboutin stilettos...screw the generic, ugly, Payless pumps that the bride makes you wear.

D.I.E

I can't believe the season finale of The Rachel Zoe Project is quickly approaching.  It seemed like yesterday I was anticipating the fashion drama, vintage brands, and the superficial accent that people in Los Angeles have developed.  Rachel Zoe has been in headlines for years seeing as though she is the #1 stylist for the stars.  However, she has also been in headlines for the whole Nicole Richie scandal but I won't go into that because I love Rach and she can't help it that she's skinny!  For a while Rachel has been working behind the scenes while the celebrities wear her creations.  When I would watch the Oscars, MTV Awards, and Fashion Week, I would often give credit to or blame the star for his or her innovative ideas or fugly fashion faux pas.  Little did I know, I should be putting the blame on the stylist!  However, I have yet to criticize Rachel Zoe's elegantly fabulous pieces!  I think it was an amazing idea to have her own show because she can now show everyone the method to her madness.  Who ever thought a fatty, loose Dior sweater paired with a long chain Chanel necklace could make you look skinny??  And how an obnoxious cocktail ring looks great (or Bananas! as Rachel would say) with a formal evening gown. If society didn't have people like Rachel Zoe, we would all look like frumpy trolls.  Unfortunately, many people choose not to follow the fashion rules of L.A.  I guess that's their loss...
I can't help but wonder where Rachel's ideas come from.  Why was she the chosen one to make millions off dressing people??  I've come to realize that it is all about taking risks.  Coco Chanel took major risks with her fashion creations and look where her company is now!  She took the little black dress and long pearls and made them breathtaking!  This is exactly what Rachel Zoe does.  She carefully studies the designs of Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, Balenciago, etc...and she is inspired by their creations.  She pairs the most random pieces together but they end up looking incredible!  She doesn't care what other people think because Rachel is determined to make her creations a trend.
Rachel is not alone on her new show.  She is accompanied by her very patient and loving husband, and her assistants, Taylor and Brad.  I have a love hate relationship with Taylor only because her style is very original and punk, which I LOVE but she is so hostile and makes it look like she hates her life, even though she has one of the most amazing jobs in Los Angeles.  Taylor is the more serious, organized version of Rachel.  If Rach didn't have Taylor, I think the Zoe Camp would go to hell.  I've been dying to talk about Brad!  How can anyone not love him?!?!  Brad is the newbie in Rachel's company and he's still trying to prove himself but Taylor makes it very difficult on him.  Brad is a young, outgoing gay guy with impeccable taste.  I think he has great potential but he seems to be extremely sensitive and cries a lot but i still love him.
I can't wait for a fab second season of The Rachel Zoe Project!  I expect more drama between Brad and Taylor and definitely more leopard and big sunnies from Rachel!
